What is the condition?

A dermatology consultation is not itself a treatment for one disease. It is an assessment for concerns involving the skin, hair, nails or appearance, such as a rash, acne, itching, a changing spot, hair loss or uneven colour.

Some concerns are medical conditions; others are cosmetic or have more than one possible cause. The clinician needs your history and an examination before explaining what may be happening.

How Skinfinity treats this concern

We start with a conversation, not a rushed procedure. Your clinician asks when the concern began, what symptoms are present, what products or medicines you are using, and what result you hope to achieve.

Your skin is then examined. A dermatoscope, a small lighted magnifying instrument, may be used to look more closely at a mole or other mark.

If needed, the clinician may recommend a swab, skin scraping, allergy test, blood test, biopsy or referral.

We then explain the options, risks, home care and follow-up in simple language. This consultation-led approach helps prevent the wrong peel, facial or laser treatment from being chosen for the wrong problem.

What outcome can you expect?

You may leave with a clearer explanation, a likely or confirmed diagnosis when possible, and an individual care plan.

Some answers need test results, specialist review or more than one visit.

The consultation itself does not promise an immediate change in your skin, a cure, a perfect diagnosis at the first visit or a particular cosmetic result.

Aftercare and long-term support

  1. Follow your written plan, and ask how and when to use any product or medicine.
  2. Do not start, stop or share prescription treatment without clinical guidance.
  3. Use gentle cleansing and moisturising if advised, avoid picking, and protect exposed skin with shade, clothing and a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher1.
  4. Tell the clinic about pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, medicines, immune problems, and any rapidly changing, bleeding, painful, infected-looking or non-healing area.
  5. Regular sleep, balanced nourishment and an active lifestyle support general health but do not replace treatment.

Suitability, limitations and safety

Choose a consultation with a qualified, appropriately registered clinician.

Bring information about your medicines, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, previous procedures and relevant health conditions.

A consultation may not provide an answer on the first visit and may require tests, referral or review.

Seek prompt medical attention for severe swelling, breathing difficulty, serious infection or a rapidly worsening condition, rather than relying on an online booking form.
