Face PRP with Microneedling

The condition

Often considered for the appearance of acne scars, skin texture or fine lines, although our service list does not define the exact indication.

Skinfinity treatment

After medical screening, your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) may be used with microneedling. The route and the way the PRP is prepared are explained to you.

What is the condition?

This service is a broad cosmetic offering, not a confirmed diagnosis. PRP is platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood.

It is most often studied together with microneedling for the appearance of atrophic (depressed) acne scars, and may also be considered for texture, fine lines or sun damage (photodamage).123

How Skinfinity treats this concern

After screening, blood may be drawn and separated in a centrifuge. Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin; PRP may be placed over these microchannels, injected, or used by both routes. These are different procedures.

The device, needle depth, blood volume, centrifugation method, additives, dose, treatment areas and session plan have not been specified in advance, and none should be invented; they are confirmed and explained after your assessment.14

What we confirm with you before treatment

  1. The concern being treated
  2. Route of PRP use (topical over microchannels, injected, or both)
  3. Blood volume, centrifugation/preparation method and any additives
  4. The microneedling device, its local authorisation and needle depth
  5. Dose and treatment areas
  6. Session plan, costs and follow-up
  7. A new single-use microneedle cartridge for your session
  8. Your written consent

What outcome can you expect?

Some studies report improvement in acne-scar scores, texture or signs of facial ageing, but studies vary, and a 2024 overview judged the certainty of evidence for acne scars to be low or very low.

PRP may soften the appearance of scars; it does not remove every scar or stop ageing. The number and spacing of sessions are not set out in advance by the clinic, and an individual result is not guaranteed.35

Aftercare and long-term support

  1. Follow your written instructions. Gentle cleansing and sun protection are usually advised, while makeup and irritating products may need to wait until the skin barrier recovers.
  2. Temporary redness, swelling, dryness, scaling, tenderness, bruising or pinpoint bleeding can occur.
  3. Contact the clinic for spreading redness, pus, fever, blisters, marked swelling or pigment change; seek urgent care for severe symptoms.

Suitability, limitations and safety

Treatment requires a licensed clinician, informed consent, clean blood handling, sterile technique and a new single-use microneedle cartridge for each patient and each session.

Risks include pain, bleeding, bruising, infection, herpes (cold sore) reactivation, pigment change, acne flare, inflammatory reaction and, rarely, scarring or nerve injury.

Assessment is especially important if you have active infection or herpes, bleeding or platelet disorders, take anticoagulants (blood thinners), have immune suppression, uncontrolled diabetes or a keloid tendency, have recently taken isotretinoin, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Because PRP comes from your own blood, it reduces concerns about allergy to foreign material, but it does not remove the risk of contamination.

The exact device and its local authorisation are verified. U.S. FDA guidance does not authorise microneedling devices to deliver blood products such as PRP into the skin.45
